SLC + Awards Banquet Recap

3/13/2018

Good morning FBLA members,

Last night was our State Awards Banquet after the SLC, hosted by Chelos. We hope you enjoyed attending this prestigious event and wonderful experience! In over 60 events, members from across RI placed top five, and the top 1st and 2nd place participants are eligible to attend Nationals in Baltimore, MD!

On behalf of the state, our utmost congratulations and gratitude goes out to all competitive events winners and participants, as well as advisors. Without your support and participation, this event could not be possible!

We would like to thank Chelo's Hometown Bar and Grille, Warwick for their hospitality towards FBLA, for the second consecutive year, and for providing delicious catering.

We would also like to thank several local businesses/organizations who donated/provided prizes for our evening raffle baskets: "Crepelicious" in Barrington, "Sweet Indulgences" in Cranston, "AMC Theatres", "99 Restaurant", "Dunkin Donuts", and the local branch of the Girl Scouts. Our gratitude is expressed towards each Rhode Island chapter who went out and solicited these donations on behalf of FBLA.

As for the SLC, there was overwhelming participation and positive remarks, especially towards the new facility provided by Johnson & Wales University: Schneider & John Bowen Center in Downcity Providence. Also we would like to thank JWU for providing scholarship prizes to the top finishers in several FBLA events.

Thank you to our impressive and informative guest speakers, Ms. Barbara DiSaia from JWU admissions, and FBLA 2018 National President Max Michel. We extremely appreciate your attendance at our SLC.

Furthermore, at the SLC, a new team of state officers were inaugurated: secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president. Congratulations!

Lastly, our congratulations and gratitude goes towards our outgoing 2017-2018 state officer team: Yanyan "Molly" Mo, Tu Haochen, Amanda Ryan, Kathryn Botelho, and Matthew Durant. Throughout the year, you have accomplished extraordinary things for your schools, chapters, and our state. You have grown to become the embodiment of a Future Business Leader. On behalf of RI FBLA, we wish you all the best of luck and know you will continue to do great things in the future.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope to see as many of you as possible at Nationals this summer.
